AuStar Gold Limited (ASX:AUL) is an exciting gold exploration, mining and production company with a portfolio of historical, near term development and current assets based around the Morning Star Gold mine located approximately 120 km east of Melbourne in the Walhalla to Woods Point gold field.
The company is focused on the mining and production of its flagship Morning Star gold mine that has historically produced over 830k oz of gold. AuStar owns and operates its own milling plant on-site at the Morning Star mine in Woods Point, Victoria. Additionally, AuStar has 670 km2 of exploration tenements covering the Walhalla to Woods Point dyke swarm with historic high-grade production totalling in excess of 6 million ounces of gold.
AuStar Gold’s capability to “turn around” assets are based on combining its considerable operational expertise with innovative mining approaches. In many instances, these innovations will involve utilisation of traditional mining methods for high-grade deposits as well as modern technology and process upgrades.

PHILIP AMERY ~ CHAIR
Mr Amery is an experienced capital markets advisor and private banker. He holds BA and LLB degrees and is a graduate of the Financial Asset Management and Engineering Program of the Swiss Finance Institute. Mr Amery currently serves as the Chair of Metgasco Limited, and was formerly a Non-Executive Director of Chesser Resources Limited.
MATTHEW GILL ~ NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Matthew Gill is a mining engineer with over 30 years’ experience. He has a strong technical, operational and executive management background; having worked as an underground miner, mine planning engineer, supervisor, general manager and managing director in Australia, Papua New Guinea, India, Ghana and Bolivia. He holds three First Class Metalliferous Mine Manager’s Certificates of Competency and has been instrumental in the successful development of three gold mines (Porgera, Beaconsfield and Ballarat).
He is a three-time winner of the Australian Mine Manager of the Year Award and received the AusIMM Leadership Award in 2008. Previously, he was Group Chief Operating Officer for Singapore-listed LionGold Corp. Also, he has worked for Castlemaine Goldfields, Rio Tinto, WMC, Placer Pacific and Renison Goldfields. Matthew also provides technical, leadership and risk management consultancy advice to industry, including Myanmar’s largest gold mine and is a lecturer for mining engineering undergraduates at Monash University.
PAUL MCNALLY ~ NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mr McNally has more than 30 years experience in business strategy and management encompassing every facet of establishing private companies, business development, fiscal control, people leadership and corporate growth through to mergers and joint ventures with both private and publicly listed entities.
He has served on the Board of a number of industry associations and has been a business advisor and mentor to numerous small to medium-sized businesses for more than 10 years.
CHRIS WELLESLEY ~ NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Lord Wellesley is a highly experienced banking and capital markets executive with the board and not-for-profit expertise, comprising three decades of senior roles within tier-one institutions in London and Hong Kong, working with clients in the resources, energy and funds management sectors. In addition, Christopher has An extensive network of senior, key relationships across the UK capital markets as well as demonstrated capital raising, corporate and financial markets expertise and a deep commitment and involvement in a range of private philanthropic activities.
TONI GRIFFITH ~ CFO/COMPANY SECRETARY
Ms Toni Griffith, FCPA, GAICD has been appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary. Toni is a senior gold sector executive with significant experience leading the financial function within mining and exploration companies in Australia. Toni has a track record of success with over 30 years of commercial, financial management and corporate governance experience in senior and executive appointments.
More recently appointments included the role of General Manager – Finance of Crocodile Gold to 2011 and Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Castlemaine Goldfields to 2017.
FRANZ SCHLOSSER ~ GENERAL MANAGER
Mr Schlosser is a mining industry professional with thirty years experience in business leadership, site and project management and mining engineering. He has led and managed projects across Kyrgyzstan, Central America, Oman and Armenia after an early career in Australia with Newcrest (Senior Planning Engineer, Telfer) and Western Mining (Stawell, Leinster and Olympic Dam) (including underground and airleg mining).
Franz’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) (WA School of Mines) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) (Curtin University, WA). He holds WA Underground Supervisor and First Class Mine Manager Certificates is a Chartered Professional Mining Engineer and a fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
JASON LAROCCA ~ SENIOR GEOLOGIST
Jason holds a MSc (Ore Deposit Geology - Dissertation: Fold-Nappe Kinematics of Plutonic Gold Mine) from the University of Western Australia, a BSc (Earth and Geological Sciences) from La Trobe University, Melbourne and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
He has strongly focused on mine development geology, resource definition and project generation from green fields to near mine exploration. Previous roles include Barrick Gold, Fortescue Metals, Metals X - Bluestone Tin Mines Tasmania, Catalyst Metals and Currawong (Fortescue Exploration).
